this space intentionally left blank

I rarely suffer writer's block. Given an objective and a time frame, I can usually put words on the screen with minimal effort or thought. However, the prospect of writing here and now terrifies me beyond all reason. I can write for myself, I can write for academics, but cannot compose a blog. Perhaps my trouble is the open nature of the blank template before me, as I sit paralyzed by the notion that I am free to write whatever I please. Maybe I need something more structured, if not an assigned topic by a professor or editor than at least a specified objective. I fear, if left to my own devices, I will end up lecturing our readers on politics or sharing experiences with World of Warcraft. Or perhaps I am just backing away from some perceived and maybe even self-imposed set of expectations about the anticipated quality of whatever I post here.

Last night I wrote quickly and with clarity about my topic, because I was affected by news and motivated to express my feelings. But such moments only come along every so often, for I am not one who is normally inclined to put my thoughts into a journal. This is something I will be working on, however, and will hopefully make strides toward progress in my postings as I continue to contribute.

I do know that a large majority of this sites readership is made up of friends, family, and general acquaintances of my wife Tisha. Many of you know me, some better than others, and perhaps many more of you do not. To those of you who do not, or do not know me well, the following may be of great interest to you.

My name is Craig Anderson, I am 27 and have lived in Lawrence, KS for the past six years. I met Tisha in the spring of 2004, and knew that I loved her almost immediately. We have been married for over eleven months, and lived together for just over two years. I can say with absolute certainty that those two years have been the best two years of my life.

I am attending the University of Kansas, scheduled to graduate with a Bachelor of Social Work degree in May of 2011. It is my intention to use this knowledge for the betterment of society, ideally as an advocate for those who may not have had a voice in the political process.

I like to cook and prepare most of our meals that we eat at home. The thought of posting recipes or something to that effect has crossed my mind, and I may do that here at some point.

In my free time I enjoy going for walks, playing video games, playing golf (both real golf and Frisbee golf), watching most sports, and doing anything involving baseball. I also love animals, as Tisha and I have three cats (two wonderful cats and Spooky) and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Stewie, our new puppy. I imagine that he will soon be taking large chunks of our time with walks and play, and I am looking forward to a fresh start with a young dog.

As I have mentioned above, however, I am a KU student who is currently enrolled in 18 hours of classes, and as such will be subjected to two exams tomorrow and then one more on Friday. In the interest of my sanity and academic progress, I must wrap things up and get some sleep.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to contribute more here, and hope you will enjoy reading.

Craig
