Yes, I am reading The Shack like millions of people across the country. I have a few things to say about it.
First, I am not done with the book yet. I have about 30-40 pages to go.
Second, what I do like about the book is how you can put yourself in the place of the main character. We all have those dark places in our lives and minds that can take completely take you over at any minute. We all have dealt with guilt, fear, and anger at some point in our lives. Personally in my own life, I've had to deal with large amounts of guilt about things that happened over 15 years ago. What The Shack is suggesting is that we trust in God no matter what the circumstances; that we don't resort to our "own way" of dealing with issues because it will ultimately lead to more pain and suffering for us and those around us. It is easy just to give it all to Jesus, but we make it harder than it actually is. We make assumptions, rules and regulations about how to give it all to Jesus. Jesus is there and always will be. He is waiting for us to come to him with our troubles as well as our joys.
Third, I would recommend this book to Christians and non Christians there is something in it that we all could learn from.
