My dad's side of the family is very very large. I found out a couple of days ago that my Great Aunt Jean passed away. I remember only meeting her once last summer at the family reunion. She had such a beautiful soul. RIP Great Aunt Jean!

Jean Frances Hysten, 85 of Topeka, KS, formerly of Atchison, KS, passed away, Sunday, February 28, 2010 at her home in Topeka. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 6, 2010 the Colly Creek Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, 4230 SW Gage Blvd , Topeka, KS. Memorial contributions in honor of Mrs. Hysten are suggested to the donors choice. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com. Jean Frances Boydston was born on September 27, 1924 in Holton, KS the daughter of Howard C. and Clara Lillian (May) Boydston. She attended grade school in Holton, junior high in Ozawkie, KS and Washburn University after she moved to Topeka. Jean had worked at Atchison Leather Products, Mt. St. Scholastica Dormitory and the former Atchison Hotel. She was a member of the Congregation of Jehovahs Witness in Atchison and Topeka. Mrs. Hysten enjoyed sewing, raising chickens and flowers. She was an excellent cook who cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Jean was married to Clem C. Hysten on Feb. 15, 1939 in Topeka, KS. Mr. Hysten preceded her in death on March 22, 1998. Her parents, one son, Richard Hysten; a daughter, Cynthia Hysten; two brothers, Robert L. and Charles M. Hyman and sisters, Betty Nelson and Marian L. Morgan also preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, Fred Hysten and John Hysten, both of Atchison, KS, Clifford Hysten, Kansas City, MO, Joseph Hysten, Topeka, KS, Lloyd Hysten, Lawrence, KS, and Patrick Hysten, Topeka, KS; daughters, Margaret Grier, Hiawatha, KS, Mary Rudy, Ozawkie, KS, Judy Billings, Topeka, KS, Valeri Hysten, Topeka, KS, Victoria Stone, Horton, KS, Rose Godfrey, Compton, CA, and Christine Hightower, Topeka, KS; sister, Charlotte K. Morgan, Chicago, IL, 44 grandchildren, more than 50 great-grandchildren and more than 10 great-great-grandchildren.
