Is it weird?

My children are beautiful. There I said it. Is that weird? They both get compliments on a daily basis from strangers, family members, friends, etc. While I do like that my children are “beautiful” I don’t like the potential self-image issues that may affect them. I try really hard with my two year old to focus more on her mental and physical abilities than what she looks like in a dress or with bows in her hair. Sure, if she wants to wear one that’s fine, but I am not going to force her to wear something just so that she “looks nice”.

In my opinion, the character of a person is much more important that what they look like. Looks change, they fade away. A truly good person who loves God and cares for others stands the test of time.

I have been told that I should enter my children in the world of modeling and pageants. I respond with a nice no, but in my head I am like are you nuts?! Why would I put my kid through something like that where they are continually judged on looks? How would they deal with the disappointments?

That’s my two cents on the issue...
