I officially had my first full week at my new job. I am learning so much right now I don't think that I can hold anymore information. What I do in a nutshell is help process applications for International Undergraduate Students. I am very lucky because I have worked at the University off and on for four years in different capacities so that I know how KU works, but never imagined how difficult it was for International students. I am so happy that God has blessed me with this position. I love the students that I help and I love the people I work with I am very content. My week was filled with learning to navigate through computer systems, checking office emails and replying, getting to know the people in my office, learning about what types of documents are acceptable and my personal favorite: admitting students to the University!
Craig's week was a little different. He takes 16 hours worth of classes during the week so he's on campus just as much as I am. In several of his classes he is preparing for exams next week so this week was some new material and some review material. He took his first quiz in Econ and received high marks. He gave a guitar lesson to Austin and that went really well. Austin has come quite a ways in the two years that Craig has been teaching him. Sometimes I accompany Craig to these lessons because it gives me a chance to visit with Austin's mom and sweet little Sadie the lovable rat terrier. I like to listen to how Craig teaches Austin because I get excited about the thought of Craig one day teaching our children something. Another highlight of Craig's week was the broadway play "Ring of Fire". A friend of mine told me that it was playing at the Lied Center so I bought a ticket for Craig and his brother for Christmas. I got them second row seats and they loved it. Craig has always been a huge fan of Johnny Cash so I thought that it would be fitting.
I guess you are wondering what we did for Valentines Day? Well, we stayed home. Craig made dinner and we watched some televison. Sounds awesome! Craig went above and beyond this Valentines Day because he gave me a book that I had been wanting and he wrote on essay about love and what it means to him. If you know anything about Craig, then you know that he is a phenomenal writer (in my humble opinion). He has this way with words..anyway. It was positively lovely.
