Anchor

Sophia has hit a really fun age where anything that doesn't go her way sets her off into tantrums. Sometimes full blown with kicking. I keep on wondering what happened to my sweet baby girl who rarely got angry or cried?! I think that she has been replaced with a little monster (just kidding).

Boy, can I relate to what she feels. Everyday there are things that don't go according to plan. I wanna cry and whine too, but unfortunately that's not gonna work for me. Man, when things didn't go my way the first thing that I would turn to was food. Oh, the brownies will help me deal with this or this bowl of ice cream will magically make this disappear....not so much.

I am learning slowly and surely to make God the first one that I run to when things get ugly. Today I ran across this encouraging quote as I was preparing for my growth group."Tying our happiness to food, skinny jeans, relationships, or anything else sets us up for failure. But tying our security, joy, and identity to God’s love is an anchor that we can cling to no matter what the circumstances." Lysa TerKeurst

Wow! Go God. All those things that we use to make us happy only make us happy for a little while because they are only reaching the surface. God reaches past the surface to anchor our hearts. We can depend on him to hold onto us no matter what. Let me repeat that last part. We can depend on him to hold onto us no matter what. Be encouraged!
