Why I blog

I have so many unanswered questions about exactly who my parents were. My dad died when I was eight and my mom has a mental disorder. I can't ask my mom to remember because she simply can't.  Family and friends have tried to fill in the missing blanks for me about some things about my parents, but it isn't enough. I want to know where they met, the songs the danced to when they were dating, the foods my mom ate when she was pregnant with me, why my dad was a part of the first black Mason lodge in Kansas, etc etc..

My past has always been a huge question mark...that is why I blog. I don't want my children to have so many unanswered questions about me. If I die there will still be a part of me out there for my children. I started writing poems and journals when I was 11 years old to help me through the rough times. When I was thirteen, I began scrap booking and taking pictures to help adjust to living in a new town. Four years ago I started a blog for the sake of convenience and to save money on scrap booking supplies. It still boggles my mind that I can track back to age 11 and go through 20 years of scrapbooks, photos, and blog posts!

Bottom line is we don't know how much time we are given on this earth. I want to spend as much time with my family and make every moment count with friends, coworkers and strangers. I will record some of these moments so that others can look back and remember too.
