2 days rest

Got a hot date with my husband tonight. We are planning on hitting up Encore tonight to kick off the evening. I've heard so many good things about this place. I am hoping that we can get a small walk in too. The wind here is crazy...it's blowing in some snow for the weekend. Yay!

Saturday we are heading to a house warming of a good friend from high school and college, who lives close by! They moved from AZ a few months back and I am happy that they are here in Lawrence.

Sunday I will be at EastLake worshiping at service and volunteering with the babies! We are starting a new series called Church for the Rest of Us and I am pumped about it.

Overall, we have a pretty low key weekend, which will be nice. I've got a couple of netflix movies and laundry to catch up on.

10/4/10

Disc Golf

Rocket Park. 4 people and a wicked wind. That's where I was on Saturday afternoon with Craig and some friends. I am not a good disc golfer, but it sure was fun.

Labor Day Weekend

Plans for the three day weekend include, but not limited to:

  • Draft for Fantasy Football. It's my first time and it looks like it may be fun with our friends.
  • Visiting my family in Topeka. I haven't seen some of them since July! I am especially pumped to see my mom.
  • Sleeping in...on a typical day I get up at 5:30am
  • grocery shopping and running errands early Saturday. There is a KU football game Saturday night so I want to get everything done so I don't get caught in all the lovely traffic.
  • Watching Huge. It's a show about campers on ABC Family. I don't have cable so I catch it on hulu
  • Watching No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency with Craig. It's a show about a lady who starts a detective agency in Botswana. Great show, solid characters.
  • Church. We are doing a series called Connected and it's making me ponder questions that I have had since I was a kid.
  • Planning for Craig's birthday on Sept 11th and Sophia's birthday on Sept. 22nd. I heart parties.
  • Picking out paint!! My mother in law graciously volunteered to repaint our kitchen and accent wall in the living room.
I plan on having a great weekend. How about you?

7/17/10

Sunday Highlights

  1. Sleeping in...I did not make it to church, but I did catch up on rest
  2. I made lunch for Craig.
  3. Shopping for holiday decorations at Target. I found some good deals. I may go again this weekend for a few more items to make the house look festive.
  4. Grocery shopping at Walmart. One thing that I love about the holidays is all the food! Our office is having a small party tomorrow and a potluck on Thursday. I wanted to make something so turkey chili with all the fixing's it is! For the small party I am making chocolate chip cookies, snikerdoodles, and turkey wraps. You can't have a holiday party without eggnog so I am bringing that too!
  5. Putting up Christmas lights around the house. Sophia loves the lights. She stares at them for long periods of time. Craig did most of the work. He's very good at getting to places that are high.
  6. Started the 3 dvd of Season three of Stargate SG1. I am so pumped about this show. Luckily Craig's brother has all of the seasons!
  7. Our daughter is starting to laugh. It almost sounds like a cough. It is so cute.
  8. Spending time with friends! Saturday we met up with one of our favorite couple and ate at a new restaurant here in Lawrence. Sunday we visited our friends and played Clue. Good times and good food!!

Sleeping is my favorite

I hit 31 weeks of pregnancy yesterday. I've been so tired lately, but I am still incredibly happy about our growing little girl!

This weekend Craig and I:
  • spent time with friends
  • Craig played WoW
  • I went to another amazing Young Wives Club meeting and had some great fellowship
  • watched movies
  • I went to bed early and took naps!
  • spent Sunday afternoon with our "Little" Kelan
  • baked cupcakes
  • Craig is making a roast for tonight
  • went to church
  • updated our bills and finances
  • went to the grocery store and bought food for the next two weeks
  • ate at Muncher's donuts! (best donuts in Lawrence, KS)
  • made two trips to Qwick trip for 50 cent drinks!
  • I went to the library to get the first three books of the Spiderwick Chronicles

That pretty much sums up the weekend for Craig and I. We are both looking forward to the family reunion and baby shower next weekend.

Sunny Day!

Woke up early before the alarm, but that is okay. Getting ready for church this morning. There is a special father's day program followed by a lunch. I don't think that will go to the lunch, but we will see.I hope to finish up cleaning the spare room(going through old papers, books), bed room (getting rid of clutter), and kitchen (finding places for all the dishes, pots and pans...that should be interesting!).

I didn't get to the closets like I had planned. I am thinking that I will wait for Craig on that stuff because we need to decide what to do with it. He has so many clothes that he never wears so we are going to donate them to the local shelter her in Lawrence.

That will be my day in a nutshell and I am looking forward to it.

Good friends, food, and fun! A weekend of Awesome!

Craig and I had a really busy, long weekend.

Thursday we went to a wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Next, Craig was supposed to go to the bachelor party at Dave and Busters, but opted to stay home and watch really bad movies with friends. We watched Balls of Fury and Foursome….it’s almost as bad as you can get, but they were quite funny.

Friday started out early as I needed to meet up with Ty and Jamie. Jamie did hair for the wedding. Luckily before she left she was able to do three people’s hair including the bride. I actually got to help out a little by hot rolling hair, which at am not too bad at!

Craig was busy with his duties of being a groomsman, which meant that he would take care of anything that needed to be done. I think the groom and the groomsman had it pretty easy. Shower, run random errands, and get dressed in the tux. Where as it took the bride several hours to get ready and she looked amazing!!

Wedding went well and the reception went pretty smoothly. I am so happy for Chris and Carole I could just burst.

Saturday was a day of recovery. I don’t think that I did anything except eat leftovers from the wedding and sleep. We had been up really late Friday night after the reception.

Sunday Craig slept in and I attempted to get ready for church, but was in a lot of pain because my pelvis was shifting so I ate breakfast, said prayers, and devotion, then took a nap until it was time to go to a work party/baby shower. It was loads of fun with amazing food, fun people and some really neat gifts for our little girl.

We brought Stewie and Colby with us to the party to play with two other dogs Sophie and Ezra. They had a riot. Stewie chased Sophie around. Colby played with toys. All the dogs really liked each other. One thing that I wished went better was Stewie and his fear of children. He kept running away from a little girl and jumping into my arms for safety. It was cute, but I want him to learn to deal with children in a positive way especially since we are having one in September!

Ahh, the weekend was very good and I am so ready for an evening on relaxation.

4/13/09

rainy gray Monday

Overall, the weekend was pretty good!

We spent some time with close friends on Friday. I actually ended up leaving a little early because I was super sleepy, but Craig had fun playing card games.

On Saturday I got the nesting urge so I got up and cleaned up the kitchen. I did two loads of dishes, wiped off the counters, oven, fridge, sweep, the floor, emptied the trash, and finally clear off the kitchen table (you can actually see it now!). I was getting ready to start more when some friends called and wanted up to get lunch and go to garage sells that were in the area.

I had a good time. My friend Emily found some baby clothes, toys, changing table and car seat for very very cheap! We then went to eat at King Buffet! I am starting to think that the baby really likes Chinese food because some times that is all I can think about eating.

Later that afternoon Craig picked up his migraine medicine and get this...it was only 1.00!! I know it's pretty crazy. The only drawback is that he has to take it twice a day for pretty much forever and it lowers his already low blood pressure. He was going to start it this week, but with two tests and a crazy work load it's not the best time to start. He may wait until a week or two later.

The rest of the Saturday afternoon was spent at our friend's place napping!! Yes, it does sound crazy, but with two pregnant women and two husbands..it just happens.

Craig's brother had a friend in town so we hung out for a bit at our place, then we take Stewie for a walk around the neighborhood. I know that I took a nap earlier in the day, but I was tired again so I opted to stay home (while most everyone went to Target) and relax with "the boys" (Craig, Stewie, Beau,Spooky and Sampson). It was very nice!

Sunday Craig and I headed to church breakfast, then Easter Service. We went to Topeka to see family and friends. I will have some pictures up here very soon of the visit. We also got to spend time with some very cute kittens!! I so wanted to take one home.

Craig and I were wiped last night. All I wanted to do is climb into my pj's and go to sleep. It also didn't help that it was cold and rainy for most of the day.

How was your weekend?

3/16/09

March Weekend

Craig and I had a pretty full weekend. Friday we spent time with friends and watched movies. Of course, I fell asleep fairly quickly so I wasn't much fun after 9pm :)

Saturday we picked up Kelan and ate at Grandaddy's. It this wonderful BBQ place not too far from where we live. I originally wanted Arthur Byrant's, but we didn't want to drive too far as were were very hungry. After eating, we went to the Overlook. Kelan had never been there so we thought that it could be interesting for him. It's this look out point in town where you can see all of Lawrence. It's quite beautiful especially on a clear day. Next stop was the off leash dog park! I think that may have been my favorite part of the day. Our adorable little puppy Stewie had a blast meeting other dogs. Most of the dogs there were much larger than he was so he mostly chased the dogs closer to his size.

Later, that night we had pizza party with friends and you guessed it. I feel asleep shortly after nine! I wasn't the only one though:)

Sunday was pretty good. Craig wasn't feeling too hot so he rested most of the day. I got up early and had some quiet reflection time before church. It truly is amazing was some quiet time can do for your mind and your heart. I felt more prepared to receive the word of God.

Italian, Mexican and Sunday

Sunday blog posts are usually about the weekend so here is what Craig and I did this weekend:

Friday- We went to Olive Garden with a group of friends, two of which had birthdays today so we wanted to celebrate. We had good food and great conversations. When we got back home the girls decided to do their own thing and go shopping for a bit!

Saturday- I went to Walmart to get groceries. I think that I was there for an hour or so...far too long if you ask me. Walmart has a way of sucking people in. Craig was able to sleep in while I was gone. After putting the groceries away I took Stewie on an hour walk. He normally walks 20-45 minutes a day, but I didn't get a chance to walk him Friday so I wanted to make up for it. He's come a long way for sure. He still gets distracted by leaves, paper, and other dogs though.

We had Kelan over for a night of movies and Mexican style food. We watched Meet Dave and This Christmas while chowing down on homemade queso dip, steak fajitas and chocolate chip peanut butter brownies. Later, we went and visited some friends for a bit then crashed.

Sunday- A day of catching up and preparing for Monday! Laundry, dishes, etc... then off to KC to visit with friends for the evening. I took Stewie for another hour walk and he didn't do so well today with walking. I think that he will have plenty of opportunities in the future to improve! Craig will be home most of the day with the puppy and the cats. He starts KU on Thursday!

I hope that your week was good! What did you do?

First Weekend of 2009 #2

I think that I am definitely nesting or something because I have been cleaning, organizing, and baking non stop for a few weeks now. Just this weekend i made another batch of puppy chow and chocolate chip brownies! I organized the bathroom, kitchen, and the living room.

I donated a trash bag full of clothes that I haven't worn all year (if you can donate I highly suggest it. There are so many people in need this time of year). Speaking of clothes, I also organized my closet and found some great deals at Kohl's and Old Navy. I think that best time to go and get good savings on clothing is in January because that is when stores need to get rid of their inventory to make way for spring attire.

Craig installed the new printer three in one we got from his parents for Christmas! We did a couple of test runs and it works great. I can't wait to use it for my scrap booking projects this year!

Craig and I both watched the movie Defending Your Life by Albert Brooks. I thought that it was a great film that had clear message about fear. Don't let fear run your life!

The weekend was pretty good and I hope to have many more like this one! How was your weekend?!

12/22/08

Full Weekend

Here's the run down for the weekend:

Friday:

Craig finished finals, and we made the last payment on our credit card to make us both credit card debt free so we decided to celebrate by going out to dinner with his brother at Tres Mexicanos our favorite!

After the dinner we watched Mummy 3. I thought that it was good, but Craig didn't like it all that much. Craig raided on WoW for the rest of the night and I watched The House Bunny. The movie was hilarious!

Saturday:

Craig and I slept in then had some lunch at McDonald's. We headed to the store to get some baking and cooking supplies to make dinner for his parents. I made a roast in the crock pot, cornbread, and monkey bread! I don't think that I have ever done that much cooking in one day. I now it's sad, but I have to start somewhere. I am happy to say that all turned out very well.

Craig's parents bought a gift for Stewie our puppy! We received a super cute black winter coat with white fur trim. He looks adorable! I will have pictures up soon.

Sunday:

We picked up Kelan and went to Arby's for lunch with Craig's parents and brother. I thought that it was nice. We headed back to home so that we could make gingerbread cookies. I am not into video games, but it was fun watching Craig and Kelan playing Wii games. I missed out on some of the fun because I had to lay down for a while because I had a migraine and later I fell asleep in a chair. I am getting so old!

Later that evening I had some yummy candy cane hot cocoa, the famous Anderson beef stew and watched WALLE. After WALLE I watched Unaccompanied Minors, while Craig went on an instance in the game WoW. I finished the movie and next thing I know it was 12:30am and I am passed out on the couch. Craig came into to help me to the living room because when I am groggy I am useless.

Looking back, I would say the weekend was good. I am definitely looking for to this week! A Christmas Eve celebration and 2 Christmases!

9/4/08

Gimme some sunshine!

Craig and I are enjoying the fall like temperatures outside. I don't like to complain..okay maybe I do, but I wish that the sun was out. I looked at the weather forecast for the rest of the week and it will be cool and rainy. Craig and I do have plans to be out and about this weekend. We plan on attending KC Ren Fest and the KU football game against Louisiana Tech. I guess we will have to wear rain gear.

We also need to cut our grass, but it doesn't look like it will dry out enough for that to happen for several days.

Labor Day Weekend

  • Craig helped me clean out his closet. We donated a bag full of clothes and some coats to Goodwill.
  • We went to Topeka for a BBQ and to see my brother's new house. It was awesome food and a good time. While we were there Craig watched 3:10 to Yuma.
  • I did seven loads of laundry. Is that possible?! There is only two of us!
  • Craig made pork chops with gravy and it was yummy.
  • We finished up some episodes of Freaks and Geeks. The first episode was awkward, but then it got better.
  • We tried to watch Westside Story, but couldn't get passed all the campiness and finger snapping... There are some really good dance scenes though.
  • Craig made a newspaper collage of the KU basketball championship. We hung it next to a framed issue of the Jayhawks in Sports Illustrated.
  • Craig played WOW and did some PVP.
  • I watched the movie Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn and it was amazing as always.
  • We went to Centennial Park to play Frisbee golf. I only made to about 9 holes because it was so hot outside.
  • We walked the neighborhood for an hour. We try to do this everyday...
  • I have been plowing through This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti. I am almost done...just 100 more pages!
  • I cleaned the living room, kitchen, bedroom and computer room.
  • I found two more frames while cleaning out the closets so I ordered more pictures from CVS.
  • Craig did two loads of dishes.

It's not too terribly exciting, but we did have a nice long weekend.
